Sue Hampel OAM is a well-known public speaker and lecturer. She holds a Masters degree in Holocaust and Genocide Studies and is the co-President of the Melbourne Holocaust Museum. Sue has been recognised for her teaching and community service by receiving numerous awards including a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for Service to the community through the promotion of understanding and tolerance.
Deeply committed to education, Sue worked with the Victorian Department of Education to make Holocaust education mandatory and develop Holocaust curriculum for Years 9 and 10. Sue currently works as a teaching associate at Monash University where she tutors in Holocaust, Genocide and Post Conflict studies. Sue serves on the National Archives of Australia Advisory Council and is an accredited education expert on the Australian delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). In a historic first, last month Sue led a bipartisan delegation of Victorian politicians to Poland in order to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the end of World War Two.
